The function of the Web Dashboard and Ingest tool is to ingest 3D files, provide a query by example (based on geometric similarity and metadata graph matching) and provide a 3D preview for end users. It takes as input an excel file created from IT Innovation script that processes 3D scans, 3D file metadata, similarity matrices, geometric properties and wikidata metadata for the artifacts. This is presented in a user-frinendly fashion in the User Interface.
This is a key component in the integration with ResearchSpace (the base platform that this componet extends)) which adds 3D file ingest capability, 3D preview and query by example to that platform.
This component is currently TRL-4. Exploitation of the component is in conjunction with partner IMATI, whose RunSearchEngine code is required for geometric query by example feature and MetaPhacts, who provide the ResearchSpace platform.
As with their other components, IT Innovation plans to release this module under a non-exclusive royalty-free open source license, although it is necessary for some third-party dependencies to be separately installed. IT Innovation note that further integration strategy is going to be necessary in order to allow the tools to be provided as add-ons to ResearchSpace, where currently a modified version of ResearchSpace is needed.
Further development of this tool in collaboration with British Museum and Metaphacts will need to be performed under additional funding, to be sought during the final stages of the GRAVITATE project. The GRAVITATE Centre of Excellence will provide opportunity to disseminate the collaboration to other interested parties and help in the search for follow-on funding.
