About
The centre of competence was established in November 2018 after the conclusion of the Geometric reconstruction and novel semantic reunification of cultural heritage objects (GRAVITATE) project (funded under H2020-EU.3.6.3. - Reflective societies - cultural heritage and European identity).
The Centre of Competence is hosted by The Cyprus Institute and the partners in the GRAVIATE project are the main contributors to its content. The Centre is open to host any tool and data relevant to the addressed topic and the wide CH community.
Aims
The Centre of competence will support the CH community by:
- - providing a set of tools to increase and promote the use of semantic-based solutions for answering archaeological research questions. In particular it focuses on the support of identification, enrichment and reuse of and on the joint use of textual description and geometric properties for the re-association, re-unification and re-assembly of broken and dispersed artefacts
- - promoting a wide and democratic access to CH data by means of their virtualization and their sharing.
- - increasing the awareness of the befit of data sharing within the community
Data created during the project are generally available for reuse. Software components can be accessed through the centre of competence and used in conjunction as a platform or on their own according to the user needs.
The partners of the centre of competence are available for further discussions and interactions to support the centre of competence objectives.
The Consortium
The centre is supported by research institutions that work in the fields of computer graphics and visualisation, digital databases and ontologies, 3D documentation and analysis and cultural heritage.
